ANKARA - State Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Motherland Party
(ANAP) leader Mesut Yilmaz said on Saturday, ''ANAP Decision-Making and
Executive Board decided at today's meeting that it will be more correct
to hold elections on November 3, 2002.''
[02] ECEVIT: ''AS COALITION PARTNERS, WE SERVED TURKEY IN A GREAT WAY''
ANKARA - Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent
Ecevit said on Saturday, ''we prefer holding elections next year to
this year. But the most appropriate thing is to hold elections on time,
that is, in April of 2004. As coalition partners, we have served Turkey
in a great way. We have launched important initiatives. However, we
will hold early elections before putting into practice some of them
appropriately. It will not be beneficial for Turkey.''

ANKARA - Erzurum State Theatre's play ''Tell-Tale Women'' was invited
to South Korea International Theatre Festival. The play is based on
eastern province Erzurum's traditions of telling tales.

REGION
LEFKOSA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Saturday that Turkish
Cypriots who were under Turkey's guarantee were advancing and recording
progress in confidence, adding, ''the Turkish Cypriot nation have been
reunited with peace and prosperity under the umbrella of the Turkish
Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) that has become the symbol of peace
and stability in its region.''

ANTALYA - State Minister Resat Dogru said on Friday, ''Turkey and
Turkmenistan are two states founded by the same nation.''

are some issues to be added to the preparations for European Union (EU)
adjustment laws. We will finalize the preparations, and submit them to
the parliament when the parliament re-opens on July 29.''
