ANKARA - Salihreis Frigate, Kalkan and Marti assault boats and Saros
and Fatsa mine counter-measure vessels from the Turkish Naval Forces
are participating in the ''Breeze-2002'' active naval maneuver hosted
by Bulgaria and exercised under the Partnership for Peace (PfP).
[02] AGRICULTURE MINISTER GOKALP DUE TO PAKISTAN ON MONDAY
ANKARA - Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Husnu Yusuf Gokalp will
leave for Pakistan on Monday to attend the first meeting of the
Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries' agriculture
ministers.

ANKARA - Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent
Ecevit said on Sunday, ''if a decision had not been taken to hold early
elections before April of 2004, I would have begun making preparations
to hand over my DSP leadership.''

[05] ANAP REJECTS DSP GROUP'S PROPOSAL TO POSTPONE ELECTIONS
ANKARA - The Motherland Party (ANAP) rejected the Democratic Left
Party's (DSP) proposal to postpone the early election that was planned
to be held on November 3, 2002.
[06] ECEVIT: ''CYPRUS QUESTION DOES NOT INTEREST EUROPE IN REGARD TO
COPENHAGEN CRITERIA''
ANKARA - Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent
Ecevit said on Sunday, ''the Cyprus question does not interest Europe
in regard to Copenhagen criteria. A satisfactory solution could not be
reached on the island because of interest of the European Union (EU) in
Cyprus.''

ANKARA - Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent
Ecevit said on Sunday, ''there are some claims saying that Justice and
Development Party (AK Party) will get an overwhelming victory in the
elections and the People's Democracy Party (HADEP) can exceed the
threshold. If all these claims come true, Turkey can face extremely
serious problems about its regime.''
[08] GUREL SAYS EU MEMBERSHIP BEFORE A SOLUTION ON CYPRUS WILL BE A
PROBLEM OF EUROPE
LEFKOSA - Deputy Prime Minister Sukru Sina Gurel said on Saturday that
if (Cyprus's) European Union (EU) membership is accepted then this
would be Europe's problem rather than Turkey.
[09] KAHKONEN EXPECTED TO HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE ON MONDAY
ANKARA - International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Turkey Desk Chief Juha
Kahkonen who concluded his works, is expected to depart from Turkey on
Monday after holding a press conference.

ANKARA - State Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Nationalist Movement
Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli said on Saturday, ''a date was set to
hold elections. Election process has begun. No one should step back at
this point.''

ANKARA - Treasury will hold three auctions this week to sell 91-day
reference bonds, 224-day bonds and 348-day discounted bonds denominated
in U.S. dollar.
