BERLIN - True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller said that economy
was Turkey's major issue on the road to the EU during her meeting with
former German Prime Minister Helmut Kohl in Berlin on Thursday.

ELEMENT FOR ITS EU MEMBERSHIP''
ANKARA - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Huseyin Dirioz has stated that the
European Security and Defense Polity (ESDP) was an issue that needs to
be resolved between NATO and the EU and he added that Turkey would not
use the ESDP matter to solve its problems with any EU country or as a
negotiation element for its EU membership.

ISTANBUL - State Minister Ramazan Mirzaoglu said on Thursday that 90
percent of Turkish Straits Vessel Traffic Information System (VTS)
Project was completed and added, ''we will put into use the system
during the first months of 2003.''

NEVSEHIR - A total of 571,474 domestic and foreign tourists visited
historical and touristic places of Cappadocia region which is one of
the most important cultural tourism centers of Turkey in the first half
of 2002.

ANKARA - The Third Term Joint Economic Commission meeting which started
between Turkey and Macedonia on Wednesday ended on Thursday. The
protocol of the meeting was also signed.
[11] TURKISH-ARMENIAN COMPROMISE COMMISSION TO CONVENE IN BODRUM
YEREVAN - Turkish-Armenian Compromise Commission will convene in Bodrum
township of western province of Mugla between July 11 and 13.

IZMIR - Aegean Health Hospital Executive Board Chairman Ilhan Gurel
said they signed a protocol with British ''Operation Abroad'' company
which will provide British patients to receive treatment in hospitals.

they applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the
decision of the Constitutional Court about the annulment of the
foundation membership of AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
