Temperatures in Athens will range between 19 to 29 C and in Thessaloniki between 19 to 28C.(4/9/2002 1:23:00 μμ) [02] Floodings of areas around the Kifissos riverFollowing yesterday s flooding of Athens suburbs around the Kifissos River , Environment and Public Works Minister Vaso Papandreou and Interior Minister , Kostas Skandalidis will today meet with contractors involved in projects in the affected areas to discuss ways to prevent future problems .Interior Minister Kostas Skandalidis appointed a new chief to the General Secretariate for Civil Protection , former chief of the Greek police Giannis Georgakopoulos to replace ,Dimitris Papanikolaou who was called to resign Mr. Skandalidis expressed regret that for the second time in such a short period the same people were the victims of floodings adding that repetition of such situations was inconceivable. In the meantime , the situation in the affected areas is gradually returning to normal while the electric train is fully operating . Consumers abstention to purchase first necessity goods was over 70 %.The Development Ministry plans to announce a package of measures to contain inflation while ministry officials will begin contacts with businesses representatives in the next few days. Former N.D party leader, Miltiadis Evert proposed a 15% reduction in utility rates while Development undersecretary , Hristos Theodorou maintained that increase in utility rates were not above the level of inflation. (4/9/2002 1:27:00 μμ) [04] Ongoing investigations into domestic terrorismIn the ongoing investigations into domestic terrorism , judicial authorities have turned their attention to the testimonies of people affected directly or indirectly by the November 17 urban guerilla group s activities . Several would be victims and families of victims have already requested to be present at the upcoming trial of terrorist suspects in custody.Meanwhile , testimony is being sought from families and friends of the 15 alleged November 17 members , detained at the Korydallos prison.
