[01] Sahara occidental : la Commission consacre €10 millions à l'aide
humanitaire en faveur des réfugiés sahraouis
La Commission européenne a alloué €10 millions d'aide humanitaire
en faveur de la population sahraouie vivant dans des camps près de Tindouf,
dans l'ouest de l'Algérie. Les fonds, acheminés par l'intermédiaire du
service d'aide humanitaire de la Commission (ECHO) qui relève de la
compétence du commissaire Louis Michel, contribueront à répondre aux
besoins fondamentaux des réfugiés en aide alimentaire, soins de santé,
eau potable et installations sanitaires et serviront aussi Ă la fourniture
de tentes et d'articles de ménage de base.
[02] Commission clears acquisition of Eltel by 3i
The European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger
Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of Eltel Group Corporation
(Eltel) of Finland by undertaking 3i Group Plc (3i) of the UK. 3i is a
private equity company. Elte is active in the construction and maintenance
of telecom and electricity infrastructure. The operation was examined under
the simplified merger review procedure.
[03] Commission clears proposed acquisition of SSM Coal by Oxbow
The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the
proposed acquisition of SSM Coal B.V. of The Netherlands by the American
company Oxbow. The Commission's investigation found that the proposed
transaction would not impede effective competition in the European Economic
Area or any substantial part of it.
[04] Commission approves proposed acquisition of Hanson by HeidelbergCement
The European Commission has authorised under the EU Merger Regulation the
acquisition of Hanson PLC, a British company active in aggregates and other
building materials, by HeidelbergCement AG, a German cement producer. After
examination, the Commission concluded that the proposed operation would not
significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area or
in a substantial part of it.
