[01] Foot-and-mouth disease : Commission adopts decision to reinforce
measures in the UK
The European Commission adopted a decision on 6 August setting out interim
protection measures which reinforce the measures taken by the UK
authorities in response to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) on
a farm in Surrey on Friday.
l'Agence.
[03] Commission clears proposed acquisition of joint control of Infocare
and Powermill by Segulah and Capman
The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the
proposed acquisition of joint control by Jersey-based Segulah and Finland-
based CapMan over the combined activities of Infocare (Norway) and
Powermill (Sweden), two companies active in the provision of maintenance
services to IT and consumer electronics products (CE) in the Nordic area.
The Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly
impede effective competition in the European Economic Area or any
substantial part of it.
[04] Commission approves proposed acquisition of ABN AMRO by Barclays
The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the
proposed acquisition of the Dutch banking group ABN AMRO by Barclays. It
concluded that the operation would not significantly impede effective
competition in the European Economic Area or any substantial part of it.
