[01] Commission refers Macquarie and Ferrovial acquisition of Exeter
Airport to the UK competition authority
Following a request of the UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) under the EU
Merger Regulation, the European Commission has decided to refer the
competence to assess the impact of the joint acquisition of Exeter Airport
by the Macquarie Airport Group (MAG) and Ferrovial Aeropuertos to the UK
competition authority. The acquiring parties currently also have control of
Bristol Airport. The Commission has decided to refer the case as the
concentration threatens to affect significantly competition in the South
West of England in respect of airport infrastructure services to airlines.
