  • [01] European journalists congratulate Cyprus EU Presidency

European journalists congratulate the Cyprus EU Presidency on the organisation and the working conditions for journalists at the Informal Ministerial Councils that take place in Cyprus.

In their letters/emails to the Cyprus EU Presidency, they praise the work of the Presidency staff for the working conditions for journalists and for their "warm hospitality". In addition, they state that although Cyprus assumes the EU Presidency for the first time, it has done much better than many other countries with more experience.

[02] Sylikiotis: EU's energy security at the top of Cyprus Presidency's priorities

Cyprus Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Neoklis Sylikiotis has reassured that Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU has set the energy security of Europe at the top of its priorities.

Addressing the "European Gas Policy Forum 2012", took place in Brussels, Sylikiotis expressed Cyprus Presidency's view on "Shale Gas: Supporting security of supply and climate action in Europe".

At the same time he stressed that the findings of large amounts of natural gas in the area of the South-Eastern Mediterranean Sea, offer new opportunities and give new impetus to the prospects of establishing a new energy corridor, which will further differentiate Europe's natural gas sources of supply.
