[01] PORTUGAL PRESIDENT - KAROYIAN
President of Portugal Cavaco Silva expressed his countrys support
towards the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus to reach a solution of
the Cyprus problem.
The Portuguese President, who received Wednesday Cypriot President of
the House of Representatives Marios Karoyian, was informed by Karoyian
on the recent developments regarding the Cyprus question.
Karoyian, who is paying Portugal an official visit at the invitation of
Parliament Speaker Jamie Gama, said that the Portuguese President
reassured of his countrys support for principles and for a solution of
the Cyprus problem that would reunify Cyprus as soon as possible and
allow all its citizens to live in conditions of peace and security.
``I informed the President about the latest developments regarding the
Cyprus problem and the discussions between the working teams and the
technical committees and I underlined our willingness to reach the
soonest possible a viable, functional solution that would reunify
Cyprus, its people, its institution and economy, Karoyian said.
