Around 159 African students have graduated recently from the Patriarchal School and the Pedagogic School of the Orthodox Archbishopric in Nairobi.

The graduation ceremony took place in the presence of the Vice President of Kenya, foreign Ambassadors and thousands of Africans, relatives and friends of the Archbishopric.

In statements to CNA, Archbishop of Kenya Makarios, said that the Pedagogic School was established four years ago, whereas the Patriarchal Seminary Archbishop Makarios III 25 years ago with 1.000 graduates so far, teachers and priests.

The Patriarchal School`s degrees are recognised by European and US Universities. The graduates come from different African countries, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimpabue and Kongo.

The Seminary caters for African youth, who, once educated in the Orthodox Religion, serve as priests and missionaries on the African continent.

In Kenya, there are around 200 Orthodox priests, 300 parishes and almost one million African Orthodox.

The Pedagogic School students come from Kenya and their employment as teachers is guaranteed as soon as they graduate.
