[01] BRITAIN - CONSTRUCTION
Foreign Office Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Lord Triesman has
referred to uncontrolled construction in the Turkish occupied north of
Cyprus, much of which takes place on Greek Cypriot properties.
Responding to a question by Lord Maginnis of Drumglass, Lord Triesman
has also expressed British support to the German EU presidencys efforts
with all concerned to enable preferential trade between north Cyprus
and the EU.
This will facilitate a settlement by promoting convergence of living
standards on the island and by bringing the Turkish Cypriots closer to
the EU, he added.
