British MEP: Turkey must sign Customs Union protocol with Cyprus

Brussels, Mar 16 (CNA) -- Turkey has to sign the Customs Union Protocol under the Ankara Agreement, to include all ten new member-states of the European Union, including the Republic of Cyprus, Euro MP of the British Labour Party and member of the European Parliament Committee on Constitutional Affairs Richard Corbett has said.

Nicosia, Mar 16 (CNA) -- Greek and Turkish Cypriot organisations and activists, comprising the Stop the War Coalition-Cyprus, will protest on Saturday 19 March against, what it describes as the Anglo-American occupation of Iraq, outside the US Embassy in Nicosia, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the war on Iraq.

Spokesman says Luxembourg's positions reflect Cyprus'

Nicosia, Mar 16 (CNA) - Cypriot Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said today that remarks made yesterday by Luxembourg's Prime Minister, who is presiding over the European Council, Jean Claude Juncker reflected the positions of the Greek Cypriot side and efforts to create the right context for the recommencement of talks to solve the Cyprus problem and reunify the island.

Juncker had said that efforts should be made to create the circumstances for a Cyprus settlement and that the dialogue should be held between Cypriots and Turks.

Polish President arrives in Cyprus for official visit

Nicosia, Mar 16 (CNA) -- Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski arrived in Cyprus today for a two-day official visit.

Kwasniewski and his spouse were received at Larnaca Airport by Minister of Interior and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Andreas Christou, Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jennifer Iacovou and Undersecretary to the President Christodoulos Pasiardis.
