Cypriot FM satisfied with EU decision regarding EU - OIC Forum

Nicosia, Oct 1 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister George Iacovou welcomed the decision of the EU Dutch Presidency not to attend the European Union - Organisation of Islamic Conference Joint Forum in Istanbul and to urge all EU countries not to attend it as well.

Iacovou said this decision ''constitutes an example of preventive diplomacy by the Cyprus Republic,'' noting that he himself had indicated to the EU since last May the Turkish manoeuvres aiming to involve the EU in Turkey's efforts to upgrade the Turkish Cypriot pseudostate and that the Forum would serve Turkey's plans.
