Cypriot President arrives in New York

New York, Sep 20 (CNA) - President of the Republic of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos has arrived in New York to attend the UN General Assembly and brief world leaders about the latest developments in the Cyprus problem.

President Papadopoulos, who is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs George Iacovou, will address the General Assembly on Thursday and on the same day he will meet with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Sep 20 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Tuesday and Wednesday 21/9/2004 to 22/9/2004 ------------------------------------------- Mainly fine weather with temporal local cloud. Southwesterly to northwesterly gentle to moderate winds will prevail during daytime, while over night the winds will be gentle northwesterlies to northeasterlies.

The sea state will be generally slight.

Temperature will range between 35C and 18C inland, between 31C and 18C over the coasts and between 26C and 14 C over the Troodos mountains.

Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 23/9/2004 to 24/9/2004 ----------------------------------------------------- On Thursday the prevailing weather conditions will be similar to Wednesdays. On Friday it will be fair with patchy cloud, with a small risk of isolated shower mainly over the mountains. A small decrease of temperature is expected.
