    United Nations, Jul 3 (CNA) -- The Charge dAffaires of the Permanent Mission of Cyprus to the UN George Kasoulides deposited in the past two days with the Treaties Section of the UN Secretariat in New York, the instruments of accession of the Republic of Cyprus to two international agreements.

    Government recommends care in dealings with regime

    Nicosia, Jul 3 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government has called on Maronite Cypriots to be extra vigilant with regard to contacts with Serdar Denktash, head of the Turkish Cypriot Democratic Party and son of leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Rauf Denktash in occupied Cyprus.

    The recommendation was communicated by Government Spokesman Kypros Chysostomides after press reports that the representative of the Maronite religious group in the Cyprus parliament Antonis Hadjirousos met Serdar Denktash and has reportedly discussed the return of some 3.000 Maronites, who belong to the Greek Cypriot community, to their villages in occupied north.

    Political manoeuvres cannot interfere with Court, says spokesman

    Nicosia, Jul 3 (CNA) -- The European Court of Human Rights operates as a judicial organ and no political manoeuvres can interfere with its legal rulings, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides has said.

    His remarks came in response to claims by the self-styled attorney general in Turkish occupied Cyprus that a bill passed by the so-called Turkish Cypriot parliament on compensation for immovable property was drafted with the help of the Council of Europe and will be accepted by the Court.

    Hotel employees continue strike, others renew agreements

    Nicosia, Jul 3 (CNA) - An indefinite strike of employees in various hotels across the island continues, with hoteliers retaliating with a lockout. The strike at certain hotels ended a few hours later, after the two sides agreed to renew their collective agreements with the trade unions.

    Two thousand hotel employees at 36 hotels, members of the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (PASIXE), went on an indefinite strike this morning with regard to the renewal of the collective agreement in the hotel industry.
