In its annual report, Eurocontrol said its 31 members were judged for the level of security, the reduction in flight delays, the cost of services, the training of personnel and investment in technonoly. Communications and Works Minsiter Averof Neofytou welcomed the findings of Eurocontrol and said Cyprus will continue its efforts to upgrade human and technological infrastructure in air transport control, since this sector plays an important role in the economic development of the country. He pointed out that Ankara will benefit more than anybody else if it were to change its tune on Cyprus and end the island's division and occupation. Speaking after a meeting here with President Glafcos Clerides, he also said he was confident that the European Council in December will invite Cyprus and other candidate countries to join the Union. [04] Agriculture Minister departs for WSSD1400:CYPPRESS:04Agriculture Minister to participate in WSSD Nicosia, Aug 24 (CNA) -- Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment Minister Costas Themistocleous departs this afternoon for Johannesburg to represent Cyprus in the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), to be held August 26 to September 4 in the South African city of Johannesburg. The Minister will be representing President Glafcos Clerides, whose schedule could not allow him to travel to South Africa, since UN-led peace talks on the Cyprus issue are due to resume on Tuesday. Apart from the 110 Heads of States, around 60.000 people will participate in the Summit, apart from scientists and members of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
