[05] Fire caused helicopter crash killing five army officers1425:CYPPRESS:05Fire caused helicopter crash killing five army officers Nicosia, Aug 23 (CNA) -- A fire caused the helicopter crash that killed on 10 July 2002 National Guard Commander Evangelos Florakis and other four officers, Cyprus Defence Minister Socratis Hasikos announced here today. He said the cause of the fire could not be identified. Hasikos told a press conference that investigations carried out by a special committee did not come up with any evidence of human mistake or sabotage, adding that the three possible causes of the fire were fuel leakage, short circuit or overheating at the fuel pumps system. The other four officers killed were Cyprus Air Force Commander Stelios Demenagas, Lieutenant Nikos Georgiou, Flight Lieutenant Paris Athanasiades and Flank Officer Michalis Shiakallis.
