    Nicosia, Jan 28 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides today categorically denied press reports that US Ambassador in Nicosia Donald Bandler had exercised pressure on the government for the removal from the island of specific weapons belonging to the National Guard.

    In a written statement read for him by Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou President Clerides stressed that no decision was taken or will be taken for the removal of any weapons of the island's army.

    Nicosia, Jan 28 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    On Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan 29 and 30), the weather will be mainly fine with northerly wind, light to moderate. The sea will be slight. The maximum temperature will reach the 18-19C. The minimum will range between 6C inland and 8C on the coast.

    On Thursday and Friday (Jan 31 and Feb 01), the weather will continue fine with further small increase in temperature.

    The sea temperature will be 17 degrees Celsius.
