1055:CYPPRESS:01[01] House passes anti-terrorism billNicosia, Nov 23 (CNA) - The Plenary of the House of Representatives yesterday passed the anti-terrorism bill, tabled by Justice and Public Order Minister Nicos Koshis, with a view to ratify the International Convention to Combat the Financing of Terrorism, as part of efforts to assist the worldwide fight against terrorism.The bill, which was passed with 42 votes in favour and one abstention, that of the Environmentalists' Movement MP Giorgos Perdikes, provides for life imprisonment or a two million pounds fine and/or both such penalties to be imposed on those found guilty of contravening the law and proposes the establishment of an anti-terrorism unit with extraordinary powers and a special fund for the victims of terrorism.
