    [02] Foreign Minister will pay an official visit to China

    Nicosia, Nov 23 (CNÁ) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides departs tomorrow for China, where he will pay an official visit, November 26 to December 1.

    During his stay in Beijing Kasoulides will meet with Chinese governmental officials and will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Tang Jiaxuan on issues regarding recent developments in the Cyprus question, the two countries' bilateral relations and the current international developments. He will also meet with China's Vice-President Ju Hu Jintao.

    Kasoulides will also visit Shanghai and Fhe Nchen where he will meet with representatives of the local authorities.

    He returns home Sunday, December 2.

    [03] EIB loan agreement signed

    Nicosia, Nov 23 (CNA) -- The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Cyprus signed here today a loan agreement worth 50 million euros for the financing of the new Nicosia General Hospital, as part of the pre-accession support facility for Cyprus.

    The agreement is for a long-term loan of 25 years with four years grace period and the funds for the hospital are provided under the EIB's current lending facility of 8,5 billion euros that runs up to 2003.|

    [04] "Luxembourg Group" countries determined to meet timeframe for accession

    Limassol, Nov 23 (CNA) -- Foreign Ministers of six candidate countries negotiating accession to the EU - Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia - reaffirmed today their countries' determination to continue and conclude their internal preparation for accession within the timeframe they set for themselves.

    The six Ministers, of the six candidate countries negotiating accession on the basis of the conclusions of the 1997 Luxembourg European Council, met for the fifth time in Limassol to assess the current state of the negotiations and consider how to take forward the successful conclusion of the accession process without delays.

    Speaking to the press Cyprus Foreign Minister who presided the meeting said there should not be any more delays in the accession process while all six ministers stressed that the process for the reunification of Europe must speed up with determination.|
