    [01] Democratic Rally - China - Visit

    Nicosia, Aug 25 (CNA) -- A five-member delegation of the right-wing Democratic Rally (DISI) departs today for the People's Republic of China, where it will pay an official five-day visit, at the invitation of China's Communist Party.

    The delegation, headed by the President of the Party, Nicos Anastasiades will have talks with officials of the Chinese communist party while Anastasiades, who is also Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will meet the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress Zeng Jianhui, with whom he will discuss the latest developments on the Cyprus problem.

    [02] Cyprus - Conference on "Peace for Afghanistan"

    Nicosia, Aug 25 (CNA) -- Some 35 delegates attend a three-day international conference on "Peace for Afghanistan", which started here today, in view to discuss ways of reconciliation in order to bring peace to the country.

    Local liaison for the conference Vartan Malian told CNA the conference will be addressed by Afghanistan's former Foreign Minister Homaun Jarrig and other former state officials, who have been living abroad, since the Taliban militia ousted President Burhanuddin Rabbania and captured the capital Kabul in 1996.
