Cyprus - Airports - Development project - International interest

Nicosia, May 1 (CNA) -- Of the 23 international groups that responded to a Cyprus government call for expression of interest in developing the island's two international airports, in the coastal towns of Larnaca and Paphos, 16 of them with airport operating experience are being invited to pre-qualify, according to an official press release.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Works Vasos Pyrgos expressed content with the "number of high quality companies that have responded" and expressed confidence "that Cyprus will have a world- class operator for its new world-class airport facilities". CNA/RM/MA/2001
