Nicosia, Apr 8 (CNA) -- Austrian Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Benita Ferrero-Waldner arrives here Tuesday on a seven-day official visit during which she will have talks with her Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides.

She will be received by President Glafcos Clerides, meet House President Spyros Kyprianou, chief negotiator with the European Union George Vassiliou and meet Austrians serving with the UN peace-keeping force in Cyprus.

Nicosia, Apr 8 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has called on the US to maintain its interest in efforts to settle the Cyprus question and take seriously into account the significance of the Republic's prospects for accession to the European Union.

In an interview with CNN International, Kasoulides also said the Cypriot authorities are on a money trail of Yugoslav funds, which is also being tracked by Belgrade, adding that Nicosia is ready to cooperate with any international or national authority to track down any illegal transactions.

Nicosia, Apr 8 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides has expressed the conviction that Cyprus would be a member of the European Union within the next two years and said its accession will be the most important achievement since independence in 1960.

The President also said that a solution of the Cyprus problem must be in line with UN resolutions and the acquis communautaire, stressing however that the Republic's defences will continue to be strengthened until a peaceful settlement is achieved.
