Nicosia, Apr 7 (CNA) -- Finance Minister of Lebanon Fouad Siniora arrives here Monday for a one-day official visit at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart Takis Klerides.

The Lebanese Minister will have talks with Klerides on bilateral economic matters and sign an agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investment.

Nicosia, Apr 7 (CNA) -- Cyprus' bid to join the European Union and the Cyprus problem were at the centre of discussions Head of Cyprus' Negotiating Team for the accession to the EU George Vassiliou had in Dublin, between 4-6 April.

An official press release issued here said Vassiliou met head of the Labour Party of Ireland Ruairi Quinn, who expressed the firm support of his party for Cyprus' bid to join the EU the soonest possible and the party's backing for a settlement of the Cyprus problem on the basis of the relevant UN decisions and resolutions.

Washington, Apr 7 (CNA) -- Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides is scheduled to meet here today US Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston to discuss developments in the Cyprus question.

Speaking in Washington, the minister has denied categorically press reports that American administration officials have told him that it would be difficult for Cyprus to join the European Union, if there is no political settlement.

Nicosia, Apr 7 (CNA) -- A Turkish proposal on the execution of a European Court of Human Rights judgment, in a human rights case against Turkey, to effectively delay compliance with the court ruling is to be debated before the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 18 April.

Diplomatic sources in Nicosia and Athens consider the terms set out in the proposal "unacceptable" in that they link the execution of the judgment to a solution of the Cyprus question.
