[01] Spokesman - President - UN top envoy
Nicosia, Jan 29 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides expects the UN
Secretary-General to fix promptly a date for the continuation of the UN-led
peace talks and has pointed out that the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides
have an obligation to continue this process, as stipulated by Kofi Annan,
Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said today.
Speaking after the second meeting the President had with Annan's Special
Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto, Papapetrou also said that it has become
obvious that the Turkish side insists on a policy which torpedoes the talks
on the pretext that these take place on the basis of UN resolutions.
