[01] British EuroMP - Cook - Abduction
Nicosia, Jan 3 (CNA) -- A British EuroMP has appealed to Britain's Foreign
Secretary Robin Cook to take "the strongest action" and demand that the
Turkish government secures the release of a Greek Cypriot abducted by the
Turks from a British sovereign territory in Cyprus and held illegally in a
prison in the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus since December 13, 2000.
In a letter to Cook, Theresa Villiers MEP, says Panikos Tziakourmas was
abducted by "representatives of security authorities" in the Turkish-
occupied part of Cyprus. The abduction took place on British sovereign
territory. "This matter is therefore your responsibility as Secretary of
State," says Villiers in her letter to Cook.
