[02] House of Commons - Tziakourmas - Chapman
London, Jan 3 (CNA) -- British MP Sir Sydney Chapman has described the
abduction and illegal detention of Greek Cypriot Panicos Tziakourmas by the
Turkish occupation forces as "the most monstrous breach of human rights" he
has encountered for a long time.
Speaking to the London Greek Radio (LGR), Sir Sydney said that Tziakourmas
"was kidnapped by members of an illegally occupying force. He lives in the
free part of Cyprus and furthermore he was kidnapped from a sovereign
British Base".

[03] Spokesman - Turkey - Occupied areas
Nicosia, Jan 3 (CNA) -- Any attempt to annex the Republic's Turkish
occupied areas to mainland Turkey would signal the end of Ankara's European
policy, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said here today, in
response to press reports about a secret plan of action to incorporate
Turkish occupied Cyprus into Turkey.
The spokesman stressed that Turkey's European Union accession course points
out clearly Ankara's obligation to contribute to an overall settlement of
the Cyprus problem.
