[01] Cyprus government - Turkey - Prisons
Nicosia, Dec 21 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government today condemned the means
used by Turkish security forces to suppress a hunger strike by inmates in
its prisons, describing them as "antidemocratic and inhumane".
Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou told his daily briefing that
Ankara's attitude proves Turkey has a long way to go if it is to join the
European Union and many changes must come about in the country.
