    Nicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) -- Iran supports a solution to the Cyprus problem through peaceful means based on United Nations resolutions.

    This was stated here last night by Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman and Director General for Mass Media Affairs, Dr Hamidreza Assefi, who is paying an official visit to Cyprus, at the invitation of the island's Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou.

    Iicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) - According to the Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport, the weather forecast for Cyprus is:

    Friday and Saturday: 17/11/2000 to 18/11/2000

    The weather will be fine, with local clouds at times. Winds will be northeasterly to southeasterly light to moderate, over slight to moderate seas.

    Maximum temperatures will reach 25C inland and along the coast, and minimum temperatures will drop to around 11C inland and around 13C along the coast.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 19/11/2000 to 20/11/2000

    The weather will be fine with no significant changes in temperatures.

    [03] US official - Cyprus problem

    Nicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) - Deputy Director for European Affairs at the US National Security Council, Tony Blinken, has described as a step forward the fact that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has submitted some pretty concrete ideas he considers the basis for real negotiations on the Cyprus problem.

    Speaking in a telephone intervention from Washington at a discussion organised yesterday by the Cyprus Union of Municipalities, Associations and Organisations of the Kyrenia area, Blinken urged all those involved in a Cyprus settlement to keep cool, keep calm, keep working, as "we are on a positive track".
