    President Clerides - Proximity talks

    Geneva, Nov 2 (CNA) -- US Presidential Emissary for Cyprus Alfred Moses said here today the progress made in UN-led proximity talks on Cyprus was not as much as expected, but noted he is always optimistic.

    Moses along with US State Department Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston and US Ambassador in Nicosia Donald Bandler met earlier today with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides. Present were also Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou and Undersecretary to the President Pantelis Kouros.

    President Clerides - Yugoslavia - UN

    Geneva, Nov 2 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides welcomed today the re- admission of Yugoslavia to the United Nations Organisation.

    "We will be glad to see Yugoslavia back to the UN," he said, responding to a question after a meeting he held here with US officials on the sidelines of UN- led proximity talks aimed at a solution to the Cyprus problem.

    President Clerides - UN Special Adviser - Meeting

    Geneva, Nov 2 (CNA) - Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides described his meeting here today with the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto as "interesting", adding that no new ideas had been put forward by the UN envoy.

    Speaking after the meeting, President Clerides said "we had a quite interesting and in depth discussion of various aspects of the Cyprus problem, in the context of the four chapters set out by the UN Secretary- General". CNA/MM/MCH/RG/GP/2000
