Washington, Jul 15 (CNA) -- US President Bill Clinton has transmitted to
the Senate a treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between
Cyprus and the US, asking for its ratification. According to President
Clinton's letter of transmittal, dated July 13, the treaty, signed in
Nicosia in December 2000, provides for a broad range of cooperation in
criminal matters including "taking the testimony or statements of persons,
providing documents, records, and other items".
