    by Myria Antoniadou Geneva, Jul 9 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides had an hour-long private meeting with the UN Secretary-General Special Adviser, Alvaro de Soto here in Geneva late Saturday. According to sources, the UN chief's advisers had asked for the meeting.

    Today de Soto is expected to have two meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, within the framework of the UN-led Cyprus proximity talks which opened on 5 July during which Denktash is expected to raise the leak of a document with some of his proposals to a Greek Cypriot TV station.

    by Myria Antoniadou Geneva, Jul 9 (CNA) -- UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus, Alvaro de Soto warned here Sunday that the public handling of issues that are under discussion in the UN is not helpful in the UN-led proximity talks which are currently underway.

    He was speaking after a one-hour meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, who broke an appeal by the Secretary-General for an embargo on statements. Denktash claimed a document which contained Turkish proposals and was leaked to the media on Friday was done by the "Greek Cypriots to kill" the paper.
