[01] German tourist - Turkish occupied areas
Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- A German tourist abducted nearly two weeks ago by
the Turkish occupation troops will tomorrow appear before an illegal court
in the occupied area for entering a "military area".
Beyer Klaus Herbert, 61, who accidentally crossed into the Turkish-
occupied north from the Paralimni area was brought before an illegal court
yesterday and was then, according to reports in the Turkish Cypriot press
taken to the psychiatric ward of a hospital because of his behaviour in the
"court".

[02] Occupation regime - Enclaved people
Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- The illegal regime in the Turkish-occupied areas
of Cyprus refused yesterday to allow a Greek Cypriot teenager to spend the
Christmas and New Year holidays with his enclaved parents in their village
in the northeastern of the island.
A spokesperson of the Commission for Humanitarian Affairs told CNA 16-
year old Anastasios Xiniatos from Rizokarpaso in the Karpas peninsula was
stopped at the check point in Nicosia by the Turkish occupation forces and
had to turn back to the government-controlled areas.

[03] Minister of Agriculture - Egyptian Ambassador
Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and
Environment Costas Themistocleous today met with the Egyptian Ambassador to
Cyprus Metwally Omar Metwally.
During the visit they assessed the materialisation of the existing
Cooperation Plan between the two countries in the field of agriculture.

[04] Civil service - Research programme
Nicosia, Dec 23 (CNA) -- A research programme aiming at increasing the
civil service effectiveness will be carried out after a decision taken by
the Council of Ministers yesterday.
The research will be undertaken by the Cyprus Public Service Academy,
the Greek National Centre of Public Administration and Cyprus University
academics.
