[01] German Tourist - Freed from occupied areas
Nicosia, Dec 27 (CNA) -- Klaus Herbert Beyer, 61, flew back to Germany
after he was freed from the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus.
Herbert had been held illegally by the occupation regime since
December 11, 1999, when he entered the occupied areas.

[02] Foreign Minister - Government Spokesman - Cyprus problem
Nicosia, Dec 27 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides briefed
today foreign ambassadors accredited to Cyprus on government positions in
the light of developments in the UN-led Cyprus proxity talks in New York
and the EU summit in Helsinki and called upon them to assist efforts for a
Cyprus settlement.
Meanwhile Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said suggestions
from the international community aimed at breaking the deadlock in the
Cyprus problem are welcomed.
