    [02] Cyprus - EU Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting

    Nicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) -- An eight-member delegation of the Cyprus House of Representatives leaves tomorrow for Strasbourg to participate in a meeting of the Cyprus - European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee on November 18 and 19.

    The political situation in Cyprus, relations between the EU and Cyprus and the Republic's EU accession course is among issued to be discussed.

    [03] Cyprus - European youth clubs meeting

    Nicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) -- Some 36 representatives from 18 European countries will gather in Nicosia between November 18 to 22 for a training conference and an executive committee meeting of the European Confederation of Youth Clubs Organisations (ECYC).

    President of the Cyprus Coordinating Committee of Youth Centres Giorgos Ioannou told a press conference today that the meeting on "methods of organising and administering youth centres" is funded by the Council of Europe.

    [04] Cyprus - Harmonisation process - EU

    Nicosia, Nov 16 (CNA) -- Finance Minister Takis Klerides and Cyprus' chief negotiator in the accession talks with the European Union (EU) George Vassiliou today decided on measures aiming at accelerating the process of screening on economy-related chapters.

    Speaking after a meeting with the minister, Vassiliou said they discussed the progress of the island's harmonisation process on economic issues and described the meeting as "very useful and constructive".

    [05] President Clerides - Constantinople

    Constantinople (Istanbul), Nov 16 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides arrives in Constantinople, Turkey, tomorrow to address the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) summit, opening on Thursday.

    Initially the summit organisers had not included the President's title next to his name in the list of participants, but after representations they corrected what they said was a mistake.
