    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- A three-member delegation of the World Council of Churches (WCC) arrives here today for meetings with government and church officials to be updated on recent developments on the Cyprus problem.

    Father George Tsetsis, Member of the Executive and Central Committees of the WCC, Doctor Ernie Regehr, Member of the WCC Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) and Salpy Eskedjian, Executive Secretary of the CCIA responsible for the Cyprus portfolio will be received tomorrow by President Glafcos Clerides and Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of Cyprus Archbishop Chrysostomos.

    [02] Cypriot deputies - EU - Cyprus Joint Parliamentary Committee

    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- A Cypriot House delegation leaves for Brussels tomorrow to participate at a meeting of the presidency of the European Union - Cyprus Joint Parliamentary Committee.

    President of the delegation Tassos Papadopoulos, accompanied by vice presidents Andreas Christou and Demetris Sillouris will participate at the Brussels meeting which will prepare the 16th session of the EU - Cyprus Joint Parliamentary Committee to take place in Strasbourg between 18-19 November.

    [03] Chinese delegation - Cyprus visit

    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- First vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, Tian Jiyun arrived in Cyprus on Saturday heading a five-member delegation for talks with Cypriot politicians and deputies.

    The Chinese delegation will be received on Tuesday by President Glafcos Clerides.

    [04] Lyssarides - Armenian National Committee of Cyprus

    Nicosia, Oct 17 (CNA) -- The Armenian National Committee of Cyprus named Socialist Party EDEK leader, Vassos Lyssarides the 1999 Personality of the Year.

    Speaking to CNA Lyssarides said he was deeply moved by the honour which was bestowed on him by the Armenian community of Cyprus.
