    Nicosia, Sep 24 (CNA) -- The Board of the Cyprus Stock Exchange decided here today to suspend transactions for one more week.

    The Stock Exchange will open again on 4 October and not 27 September as initially announced.

    Nicosia, Sep 24 (CNA) -- The 27th Cyprus Rally got underway here today with the participation of 82 cars, 11 foreign and 71 Cypriot crews.

    The three-day contest has 17 special stages and is likely to show the winner of this year's European Championship.

    [03] Stock Exchange - Closure - Extension

    Nicosia, Sep 24 (CNA) -- The Board of the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) is determined to take all measures available in order to implement their decision for the resumption of trading on October 4.

    The CSE had shut its doors on September 3 in order to give stockbrokers time to sort through a backlog of paperwork due to extraordinary volumes of transactions over the previous weeks and was due to reopen on Monday September 27.

    [04] Cyprus Rally - Frenchman leads

    Nicosia, Sep 24 (CNA) -- Jean Pierre Richelmi driving a Subaru Impreza leads the 27th Cyprus Rally at the end of the first leg of the competition.

    Cypriot Andreas Tsouloftas in a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI is in second place, followed by Cypriot Christakis Thoma in a Mitsubishi Lancer evolution IV.

    [05] US State Department - Cyprus

    New York, Sep 24 (CNA) -- The US wants to see talks taking place on Cyprus without preconditions and under UN auspices but is not too concerned about the procedure that will be followed at such talks.

    The US also believes that direct talks between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities will occur at some stage.
