    [04] Spokesman - Peace talks - Denktash

Nicosia, Sep 10 (CNA) -- The government would like to see face to face talks which would not allow the Turkish Cypriot side to avoid substantive discussion on the important aspects of the Cyprus question.

Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said the government is pleased to hear that the UN Secretary General is working within the framework of UN decisions, a move which backs the government's view that talks without preconditions means talks in the UN framework.

    [07] House President - Return

Larnaca, Sep 10 (CNA) -- House President Spyros Kyprianou believes there is now a better understanding in Germany and Poland about the need for Cyprus to become a European Union member, irrespective of a political settlement in Cyprus.
