"According to information the government has, the autopsy has confirmed that we are talking about a murder", Papapetrou said. The occupation regime, he added, "has arrested four Turkish Cypriots who are being questioned in connection with the case." He said UN envoy Dame Ann Hercus said UNFICYP's report on the incident will be handed to the government probably tomorrow while the relatives of the victim expressed their wish for Harpas to be buried in the southern coastal town of Limassol. Harpa's wife, Yianoula intends to cross to the government controlled areas to attend the funeral. Asked why the body was not transferred to the free areas today, she said "I don't know but we do know that it will be coming tomorrow. We have been assured of that", she added. Sixty-nine old Harpas from the Turkish occupied village of Rizokarpasso, on the island's eastern tip, was murdered on Monday night, reportedly by two persons. CNA EC/MM/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY1935:CYPPRESS:05[05] Cook - Cem - Cyprus - EULondon, Sep 2 (CNA) -- Britain and Turkey exchanged views on Cyprus and expressed the hope that recent initiatives will promote a mutually acceptable solution to the division of the island.Speaking after meeting in London his Turkish counterpart Ismail Cem, British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook said the two "had a useful and fruitful exchange of views on the situation in Cyprus." "We both hope that these recent initiatives will create an environment in which we can take forward a mutually acceptable solution to the division of the island," the British Foreign Secretary added. He expressed the hope that this will "enable both Turkey and Cyprus to proceed with their aspirations as candidates for membership of the European Union (EU)." Cem said the two "discussed several subjects and on some points we have differences of evaluation but on the basics we have always had parallel views." Referring to Turkey's aspirations to join the EU, Cook said that at the Cardiff summit the EU leaders recognised "the candidate status of Turkey", adding that "we will be arguing for that status to be recognised again this weekend among Foreign Ministers." He said the candidate status for Turkey should be on the same basis as any other country that aspires to be a member of the EU "and that of course includes the requirement to meet, for instance, the Copenhagen criteria on human rights." "Of course we both recognise that there is much work to be done", Cook added. Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37 per cent of the island's territory. The island began substantive accession talks with the EU in November 1998.
