1955:CYPPRESS:01[01] Russian ambassador - Cyprus issue - G8Nicosia, Jun 14 (CNA) -- Moscow's Ambassador here Georgi Mouradov today expressed the hope a statement by the Organisation of the seven most industrialised countries plus Russia (G8) on Cyprus will back efforts for a settlement on the island based on UN resolutions.He welcomed a statement formulated by the G8 Foreign Ministers last week, expected to be approved at the forthcoming G8 summit meeting, and said a settlement in Cyprus must provide for the establishment of a bizonal, bicommunal federation. Invited to comment on the statement Mouradov said "I hope that it will give a push for a just and viable solution of the Cyprus problem, within the framework of the UN and the Organisation's resolutions." He said a settlement in Cyprus "must safeguard the establishment of a bizonal, bicommunal federation" according to UN resolutions. The G8 Foreign Ministers reiterated their support to UN efforts for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem on the basis of relevant UN Security Council resolutions and urged the UN Secretary-General to invite the two sides on the island to negotiations without preconditions. CNA MA/MCH/1999ENDS, CYPRUS NEWS AGENCY2005:CYPPRESS:02[02] Cyprus - Russian Business Association - EstablishmentNicosia, Jun 14 (CNA) -- A Cyprus - Russian Business Association aimed at furthering trade and economic ties between the two countries was established here today.Russian Ambassador to Cyprus, Georgi Mouradov, and President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) Vasilis Rologis expressed certainty the Association will contribute to the development of existing good relations. Speaking to the press before the founding meeting, Mouradov noted that "in the past few years there has been a steady increase" in economic and trade relations between the two countries, which "are developing very positively". He welcomed the establishment of the association on behalf of the government and Russian businesses and expressed certainty it will "contribute to the practical development and expansion of bilateral relations." On his part Rologis said KEVE aims at establishing such associations in order to further promote ties between Cypriot and foreign business people. He expressed certainty the association will "further promote our good relations with Russia." Apart from promoting, expanding and encouraging trade relations between Cyprus and Russia, the association also aims at proposing to the two governments ways and means to this effect and the organising of meetings between government officials. The association will be governed by a 14-member board of directors, elected by the general assembly, to which the Ambassador to Cyprus will have an ex officio capacity.
