NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The premier of Republika Srpska /RS/ Milorad Dodik convened for 19,00 h in Banski Dvor in Banja Luka the seventh session of Government, at which will be considered Bills on Banking of RS and Law on Amnesty for unauthorised possession of mines and explosive devices and other war devices. Besides adopting minutes from the previous session, between 11 items on agenda, the Government will consider the Law on amendments and supplements of the Law on ministries and certain staff issues, as well as the requirements for giving approval for trade of land of the Basic State Enterprise "Poljoprivrednik" from Derventa and "Agroprom" from Zvornik.

BANJA LUKA - The minister for refugees and displaced persons of RS Miladin Dragicevic agreed in Banja Luka with the envoy for refugees of German Government Dietmar Schlle the preparation of concrete plans and programmes for return of refugees and displaced population in 12 municipalities of the western part of RS. Dragicevic confirmed for SRNA that the priority in these plans are Modrica and Prijedor and stressed that simultaneously with repairing of abandoned housing units in these municipalities will be registered their owners from RS, abroad and FB&H which will return in organised manner.

BANJA LUKA - The presidents of Syndicate Unions of RS Cedo Volas sent a letter to the president of RS Government Milorad Dodik and minister of energetic and mining Vladimir Dokic in which he warns them on the alarming state in the field of power utility. Volas demands "urgent talks of Syndicate and Government o the highest level" and is proposing concrete measures for solving this problem.

MOSCOW - The contact group at the meeting in Moscow expressed the support for president of RS Biljana Plavsic and premier Milorad Dodik - stated in Moscow the representative of Russia in Contact Group and minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolaj Afanasievski. At the press conference he assessed that RS now represent "the example of pluralistic democracy with all of its standards".

LONDON - The Great Britain announced the first package of aid for RS - immediate payment of million pounds (1,65 million of &US) - and secretary of Government for international development Clare Short said that it is the "voice of confidence" for new government of Republika Srpska - reports SRNA correspondent from London. Short stressed that this money was approved "for providing support for Budget of RS", and that simultaneously with this aid was approved 1,1 million pounds in order to help reintegration of returning refugees in B&H.

SARAJEVO - High Representative of the international community for B&H Carlos Westendorp assessed that "in RS exist more pluralism than in FB&H". "Only one party is holding monopoly in Federation and I want to change that supporting small parties", said Westendorp in the statement for "Oslobodjenje" /liberation/, the news from federal part of Sarajevo. He stressed that "one of the ways to change the system is support of pluralism and multiethnical parties".

SARAJEVO - The president of the club of delegates of Serbian Democratic Party in House of Representatives of Parliamentary Assembly of B&H Branko Simic stated for SRNA that the session of this body will be held on March 5 in Lukavica in Serbian Sarajevo, and the day after session of the People's Home in Federal part of Sarajevo.

BELGRADE - Regarding that burning Serbian houses in Drvar is continued in not decreasing tempo, IPTF strengthened control in the region and demanded replacement of responsible persons in local police, announced UN spokesman Susan Manuel at the press conference in Belgrade. She reminded that from the beginning of this year in Drvar was burned more than 20 Serbian houses and added that UN is seriously worried about that.

SARAJEVO - In the federal part of Sarajevo was opened the First Fair of Banja Luka's economy, which will be held in the centre Skenderija until February 28. The organisers of the Fair, at which its production programme exhibited about 60 economic companies from RS and FR Yugoslavia, are the "Independent news" from Banja Luka and Sarajevo's "Vecernje novine" /evening news/.

BIJELJINA - The president of the Delegate Club of People's Union /SNS/ in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska /RS/ Svetozar Mihajlovic stated for Beta that the session of the Parliament most probably will be held on March 11 and 12 in Banja Luka . He stated that it was the proposal of SNS on the consultations with the president of the Assembly Dragan Kalinic, and that against were only representatives of Serbian Radical Party /SRS/, who proposed holding of the Assembly session in Pale.

BANJA LUKA - The president of Government and minister for matters of Veterans, war and work victims in RS Tihomir Gligoric and minister of Health and Social Welfare Zeljko Rodic talked in separate talks in Banja Luka with deputy general director of the International Labour Organisation from Geneva Herbert Sharenbreuh. As stated in the announcement forwarded to SRNA from the Cabinet of president of Government, Gligoric and Rodic talked with the director of this respectful institution about the projects of employment and social welfare in RS, which would be realised under the auspices of ILO.

BANJA LUKA - The vice-president of Serbian Government Slobodan Radulovic thinks that Yugoslavian dinar would remain as the legal tender in RS also after May, when issuing of convertible mark was anticipated, as common currency in B&H. "The economies of Serbia, i.e. FR Yugoslavia /FRY/ and RS, are very much connected and therefore is necessary to have joint currency", explained Radulovic at the press conference in Banja Luka after talks with RS president Biljana Plavsic, premier Milorad Dodik and economists with economic-political delegation of Serbia.
