During the talk it was stressed by Emma Nicholson that corruption has become a scourge in this country and it was absolutely necessary to set up an efficient system of public administration, unitary, without any political implication and utterly professional. However, Emma Nicholson estimated that the most important problem which Romania must solve was that of institutionalized children. The President of PDSR said that adherence to the European Union was an absolute priority and that in this sense his party was interested in permanent and very direct relations with the European bodies. The Orthodox community in that part of Poland made an impressive reception to the guests at the Saint Nicholas Cathedral. There are about three hundred thousand believers in that part of Poland, about 180 kms, North - West of Warsaw. In the Polish capital yesterday His Beatitude Teoctist gave His Beatitude Sava, the Metropolitan Primate of Warsaw and of entire Poland several gifts including an icon of Virgin Mary. [05] New discoveries attesting Romanian education in TransylvaniaA discovery in the archives of the museum of the first Romanian school at the Church SAINT NICHOLAS of the town of Brasov modifies some elements regarding the age, as it were, of Romanian education in the town of Brasov and in south eastern Transylvania. The principal of the school Vasile Oltean told the correspondent of RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI that a fragment of a teaching book in the archives was dated, according to international standards, as having an age of 800 years. Thus we can certify that Romanian education in that part of the country is at least 800 years old, a fact which places it in the XI - th century, four centuries earlier than considered to have been attested until now. As you might know education in that interval was conducted in a building adjoining the church and it was entirely based on books of religion.[06] CALENDARWorking visit of Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu alongside United States Ambassador, James Rosapepe, to county Prahova for visits to various American financed ventures and companies there including the WASHINGTON GROUP of the town of Ploiesti, the VEGA oil refinery and the COCA COLA producing factory. In the evening the Prime Minister of Romania meets with the leaders of the Parliamentary Political Parties and with the Cabinet Minister for the Public Offices for talks on the issue of ELECTOR'S CARDS and for an answer to the message of the reporter for the European Parliament on Romania, Mrs. Emma Nicholson.
