Minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Tabacaru,
now on an official visit to Romania, has talks with the Romanian foreign
minister Petre Roman; after a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs the guest is received by the President of Romania, Emil
Constantinescu and by Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu.
Situation of the institutionalized children of Romania is analized by a
crisis management committee led by Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu.
On the occasion of 10 years since the creation of the Romanian Information
Service [ SRI ] the National Institute of Information holds the session on
the theme ROMANIA - INSTITUTIONS AND ASSETS FOR THJE THIRD MILLENIUM.
Leaders of PNL and PNTCD - National Liberal Party and Christian Democratic
National Peasants Party - are meeting today to discuss a number of aspects
of their collaboration.
President of PDSR - Social Democracy Party of Romania - is visiting the
Republic of Moldova today and tomorrow.
PDSR leaders are visiting the town of Cluj.
Weekly press conferences of the Democratic Party at the seat of the party
and of the Greater Romania Party at the seat of the second mentioned party.

On Thursday the Cabinet of Romania adopted the standing documents of
Romania for the negociations of accession to the European Union regarding
the following chapters: foreign policy and joint security; international
economic relations; education, professional training and the youth; small
and middle sized companies and our Science and Research activity, reports
RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. The National Bank of Romania is authorized to
grant Credit Bank a credit to cover requests of withdrawal to the ceiling
of 55,000,000 lei per person regardless of the currency which the deposit
is in. The Cabinet adopted the strategy of privatization of the
Agricultural Bank as there already are some strategic investors who wish to
do serious business. The Cabinet has also made a thorough analysis of the
institutionalized children and of those without any assistance: a crisis
management team was set up under the leadership of Prime Minister Mugur
Isarescu. RADOR
[01] Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu presented to the Trade Union leaders the
stand of the European Union officials regarding the strategy of development
of Romania
Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu had a meeting with the Trade Union leaders on
Thursday during which he presented the Strategy of development of Romania
which was well received by the European Union officials, informs RADIO
ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. In as far as the different points of view of the Trade
Unions with regard to the privatization of the public services of Romania
are concerned, the Prime Minister said he would always observe the stand of
the Trade Unions and he would never ask them to renounce their role of
defenders of the employees.
[02] Aspects of the underground economy analysed by the Budget Finance
Commission of the Senate
Members of the Budget and Finance Commission of the Senate met with the
representatives of the institutions that fight underground economy in
transports, industry, commerce, hotels , restaurants and services, reports
RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. According to the National Statistics Commission,
this phenomenon reached 21 per cent of the Home Industrial Product and
according to the report worked out in the United States underground economy
in Romania in 1998 was of 49.5 per cent of the national Industrial Product.
A better collaboration among institutions is required so that money is
confiscated and then used by the legal companies, in this way, more capital
being used. RADOR
[03] PNTCD - Christian Democratic National Peasants Party - is asking for
more information to the public opinion of Romania regarding the RED HOT
LINE
PNTCD is of the opinion that Romanian public should know more about the RED
HOT LINE, more exactly about the negociations of former President of
Romania, Ion Iliescu, with Moscow in connexion with the installation of
DIRECT HOT LINE linking Bucharest to the Kremlin on scrambled frequencies,
reports RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI. PNTCD further says that the former
President of Romania engaged in negociations which were not in keeping with
Romanian foreign policy and adds that Ion Iliescu and PDSR attempted to
undermine the drive of Romania toward the community of states that have a
well consolidated democracy, countries which are really warranting the
security and stability of European security. RADOR
[04] Economic decisions adopted by the Government
Public institutions of culture which are financed by the state budget may
sublet their buildings and seats to persons of Romania and from any other
country residing in Romania for a period during auctions RADIO ROMANIA
ACTUALITATI reports. The money obtained goes fifty per cent to the budget
and fifty per cent to the account of the respective institution. The
Cabinet decided that Ministry of Finance should guarantee 47 million EURO
to Metrorex for the purchase of equipment with a view to modernizing the
subway system of the capital city of Romania. RADOR
[05] Stock exchange transactions
A presentation took place at the residence of the counsellor for economic
and cooperation issues of the Canadian Embassy to Romania displaying the
new system of transaction at the Bucharest stock exchange under the name
