[01] Conditions to be met for the succes of economic changes
The great economic changes initiated by the Ciorbea government have no
chance of success without political strenght - Traian Ungureanu affirmed in
a BBC - WORLD SERVICE report. He said that during the last two weeks the
Ciorbea government passed through two serious crisis. The first was the one
of the "inevitable weakness of each coalition government". The second one
came from the inside of the main government party - the Christian
Democratic National Peasant Party (PNTCD): "It's about the incapacity now
obvious of the ministers and of the party leaders to accept the common
objectives required by the economic reform". RADOR, August 25
[02] General assembly of the Bucharest branch of the Former Political
Detainees Association
The Bucharest branch of the Former Political Detainees Association held its
general assembly in the former ARLUS hall in Bucharest. The aim of the
reunion lead by Dr. Paul Minea is the election of the new leading
structures, of the counsellors and the president. RADOR, August 25
[03] 5th edition of the Hungarian-Romanian Civil Forum
The Hungarian city of Kaposvar has hosted the three days 5th edition of the
Hungarian-Romanian Civil Forum. This 5th edition has been organized by the
Kaposvar branch of the Hungarian-Romanian Friendship Association in the
Hungarian city of Pecs. The almost 50 delegates of the two entities from
both Romania and Hungary have approved the rule of a new organization: the
Alliance of the Hungarian-Romanian Friendship Associations from both
Romania and Hungary. The founder of the Pecs Association Mr Zoltan Ivloi
has been elected president of the new Alliance. RADOR, August 25
[04] A German delegation inquiry
Representatives of the German firms Karlsruhe Port, Hamburg Port Consulting
and Rupert & Partner are presently in Timisoara in order to attend the tri-
lateral Romanian-German-Yugoslav meeting on the possibilities to resume
navigation on the Bega canal and on the construction of the Timisoara port.

[05] Road accident in Hungary
Three people have deceased and one have been seriously injured in a road
accident that occured Saturday night between the eastern Hungarian cities
of Debrecen and Hajdusamson - MTI agency reported. A Hungary registered
Lada car passed for an unknown reason on the left side of the road and
collided with a Romanian tourists bus coming from the opposite direction.
Three of the four car travellers have immediatly deceased and the fourth, a
woman have been seriously injured and taken to the hospital. No one of the
Romanian tourists have been injured. RADOR, August 25
[06] Weather in Romania
Weather in Romania is getting colder and unstable in most of the country.
Heavy rains are forecast in northern and mountain regions. Temperatures
will range from 10 centigrades in the morning to 26 centigrades at noon.
