[01] Romania prime minister Victor Ciorbea had talks with Mr Anthony Cragg,
NATO assistant secretary general
During talks in Bucharest with NATO assistant secretary general Anthony
Cragg, Romanian prime minister Victor Ciorbea said that an active political,
military and economic partenership could develop in the coming period
between Romania, the Ukraine and Poland. Prime minister added that Romania
was not just a beneficiary but also a producer of stability in the area.
For his part, Anthony Cragg said the Partenership for Peace was
instrumental to the architecture of EuMopean security. On Tuesday, Cragg
met the foreign and defence ministers and the defence committees in
parliament. Talks coverd interoperability between the Romanian army and

[02] Romanian prime minister Victor Ciorbea interviewed by Hungarian
newspapers
Invited by his Hungarian counterpart Gyula Horn, Romanian prime minister
Victor Ciorbea is to visit Hungary shortly. This will be the first visit
abroad by Romanian prime minister, the event offering an opportunity for
Romanian-Hungarian relations to be improved. "Nepszabadsag" and "Magyar
Hrlap", the most important Hungarian newspapers, interviewed Mr Ciorbea on
the occasion. During the interviews, Romanian prime minister underlined the
new good relations between the two countries which, in his opinion,
represent "an example of cooperation and stability in the region".RADOR,

[03] Romanian president Emil Constantinescu has visited RADIO FREE EUROPE
headquarters in Prague
President Emil ConstatinescM was the first Romanian president to visit
RADIO FREE EUROPE headquarters in Prague. During his visit president
Constantinescu praised RFE staff for their activity before and after
Romanian revolution and underlined the importance of RFE in fight against
the communist regime during the cold war era.RADOR, March 12
[04] Statement by Romanian government spokesman Eugen Serbanescu
On Tuesday, government spokesman Eugen Serbanescu said that the
International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Union had no
say in the Romanian government's decision on the year's budget. Serbanescu
also said the reform measures as well as the welfare programme were based
on an analysis of the Romanain economy. According to spokesman, the
international bodies are in Romania at the executive's requests to smooth
the transition of Romanian economy but the reform programme belongs
entirely to the Romanian government.RRI-RADOR
[05] Taiwan's requests
Taiwan puts pressure for taking to court the six TaiManese sailors on
Maersk Dubai charged with the murder of three Romanian citizens by dumping
them into the sea last spring. Michael MacDonald, a prosecutor in Hallifax,
said that the Canadian court had no jurisdiction on the case as the
clandestine passengers on the Taiwanese ship sailed at that time in the
international waters. Canada further supports Bucharest in its efforts of
having the Taiwanese sailors extradited. Prosecutor MacDonald said that if
the case had been under his jurisdiction he would have imediately put on
trial the sailor for murder or for murder or for murder one or
