[01] High Level Contact between Romania and the Czech Republic
Romanian President Emil Constantinescu is on a two-day visit to the Czech
Republic. It is the first visit by a Romanian head of state to that country
and it is particularly aimed at developing economic cooperation within the
process of integration into European and North-Atlantic structures. The
president of Romania is accompanied by the ministers of reform, labour and
social welfare, trade and industries, culture as well as by the president
of the State Ownership Fund. During a joint press conference, the Romanian
and Czech presidents said that the two countries do not see their
integration into NATO as a contest but as a possibility of cooperation no
matter of the enlargement formula accepted by the North-Atlantic Alliance.
Emil Constantinescu said that he had agreed with the Czech President Vaclav
Havel to develop an active partnership meant to support the two countries
to embark on the road of both bilateral and regional cooperation and of
European and Euro-Atlantic integration subsequently. Romania's President
also had meetings with Prime Minister Vaclav Klaus and with the presidents
of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, Petr Pithart
and Milos Zeman, during which they examined the Czech-Romanian relations,
especially the ones linked to the bilateral economic cooperation. RRI-

[02] A Delegation from the Constitutional Court of Armenia Visits Romania
The President of the Romanian Senate Petre Roman and Premier Victor Ciorbea
had meetings in Bucharest on Monday with a delegation from the
Constitutional Court of Armenia, headed by its president, Gagik
Haroutunian. Among other things, they discussed the possibility of
developing the Romanian-Armenian relations in the economic field and they
made an exchange of views concerning the legislative activity. RRI-RADOR,

[03] The Romanian Foreign Ministry Is Concerned Over the Situation in
Albania
The Romanian Foreign Ministry has given a communique, expressing its
concern over the situation in Albania, while welcoming, at the same time,
the agreement between the Albanian authorities, opposition and rebels,
especially the accord on setting up a government of national reconciliation
and holding fresh elections, no later than June 1997. Backing the efforts
of the International Community, the Romanian Foreign Ministry expresses its
support for a rapid settlement of the internal crisis in Albania, based
upon the rule of law and the democratic principles, as well as the

[04] Socialist International President Is Expected in Romania
Socialist International President Pierre Mauroy will visit Romania during
March 11th and 13th. The guest will have meetings with liders of the
Democratic Party and the Romanian Social-Democratic Party, both members of
the governing coalition. On March 13th Pierre Mauroy will receive the title
of Honorary Citizen of Bucharest and will open the Jean Jaures Fundation

[05] The Bank of Germany Shows a Specific Interest towards Romania
Peter Tils, President of Deutsche Bank (The Bank of Germany), who is
visiting Romania, met the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ciorbea. The guest
outlined that Deutsche Bank shows a specific interest towards Romania - one
of the most dynamic and important markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
Deutsche Bank wants to help the privatization process of the Romanian banks
and is ready to finance some infrastructure plans and programmes of
development in the Energy field. RRI-RADOR, March 11
[06] Weather in Romania
Weather will be fine, with a mostly clear sky. It will be slighty windy.
The temparatures will range between -6 and 14 degrees Celsius. Fog is
expected for tomorrow morning in Central and Western Romania. This morning,
in Bucharest, there were +5 degrees Celsius. Weather in Bucharest will be
fine and sunny. Temparature will exceed to +12 degrees in the Capital.
