ammend and complete the present land law. The draft law is debated by the
Romanian Chamber of Deputies in an emergency procedure. The attendees in
the meeting highlighted that the maximum surface of the lands that are to
be taken from the former owners should not exceed 10 hectars. On the other

[05] Appeal against the decision issued by a Canadian Court
A prosecutor representing the Canadian government appeled against the
decision of the Appel Court in Nova Scotia to release the Taiwanese navy
officers who had been accused of killing three Romanian clandestine
passangers. The press agency REUTERS remainds that in May, last year, 8
Filipine sailors left the Taiwanese ship Maersk Dubai, which had arrived in
Halifax port, Nova Scotia, and accused the Maersk Dubai officers of
throwing the clandestine Romanians over bord for fearing of not being
fined. The Canadian authorities put the Taiwanese officers under arest at
the request of the Romanian authorities. Bucharest wants the extradition of
the Taiwanese officers in Romania, while Taiwan claims authority over the
case, because Maersk Dubai was sailing under taiwanese flag in
international waters when the incident occured. In its turn, China, which
claims sovereignity over Taiwan, insists that Beijing should take the final
decision over the case of the Maersk Dubai officers. RRI-RADOR, March 10
