[01] Former Romanian Monarch, King Mihai I, Met President Constantinescu
Former Romanian monarch, King Mihai I, concludes today his visit in
Romania. On Tuesday, he laid a wreath at the Unknown Hero Memorial in
Bucharest. After the ceremony, King Mihai I talked with war veterans who
had been awarded with the Mihai Viteazu Order (the highest Romanian medal
for bravery during war). Tuesday's agenda for the Royal family included
meetings with the Romanian political figures and a dinner with Romanian
President Emil Constantinescu. During the talks, King Mihai I acceptMd to
advocate in front of Western governments Romania's admission into NATO and

[02] The Chairman of Romanian Senate, Petre Roman, Is Visiting Spain
On Tuesday, in Madrid, the Chairman of the Romanian Senate, Petre Roman,
was received at King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia and had talks with Prime
Minister Jose Maria Aznar and other Spanish officials. Petre Roman told
Radio Romania that Spain is one of Romania's supporters in its bid to join
NATO in the first wave. He added that ways had been found to i crease
bilateral trade and political relations. The Chairman of the Romanian
Senate pointed out that the democratic change of power in Romania has given
an enhanced prestige in the Western world. RRI-RADOR, March 5.
[03] Germany Backs Romania's Admission into NATO and the EU
"Romania's chances to join NATO and the EU have substantially increased. I
would be wrong if I made an optimistic forecast, yet I am relatively
optimistic. Germany backs RMmania.", the Chairman of the Foreign Policy
Committee of the Bundestag (the German Parliament), Professor Doctor Karl
Heinz Hornhus stated after meeting, in Bucharest, the members of the
Foreign Policy and Defence Committees in the Chamber of Deputies of the

[04] Italy Says that Romania Should Be Included in the First Group of
Countries Joining an Enlarged NATO
Italy upholds the idea that the first group of countries to accede into
NATO as a result of the Alliance's enlargement should include Romania as
well, besides Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
Thisstatement was made in Bucharest by Pietro Fassino, state secretary with
the Italian Foreign Ministry, after talks with Romanian President Emil
Constantinescu and Foreign Minister Adrian Severin. Mr. Fassino and his
Romanian counterpart Lazar Comanescu signed an accord on re-admission in
each respective country of Romanian and Italian illegal immigrants. RRI-

[05] Weather in Romania
Weather will be generally sunny, with spring temperatures and few clouds in
the sky. Rainshowers will be rare and short. It will be windy in the
Southern Carpathians area. Temperatures will range between -4 and +14
degrees Celsius. In Bucharest, weather is fine. There are only few clouds
in the sky. The temperature will rise to 12 degreess celsius and there will
