[01] Motion initiated by the opposition
The parliemementary group of the Party of Social Democracy in the Chamber
of deputies of Romania's Parliament filed the first simple motion initiated
by the opposition in the present legislature. The parliamentarians want to
draw the attention of the executive on the almost complete withdrawal of
the support given by the state to agriculture. The 82 signatories of the
motion acuse the government of lack of concern in preparing the spring
campaign this year and that it had no choerent policy in agriculture. ThM

[02] The former sovereign of Romania and his wife visted the Orthodox
Cathedral in Curtea de Arges
During their visit in Romania, the former sovereign of Romania, King
Michael the 1st and his wife, Ana, visited Curtea de Arges, a town in
southern Romania, where they paid homage at the Orthodox Cathedral to the
tombs of their predecessors, King Carol I and Ferdinand I, queens Elizabeta

[03] Romania will succeed in seeing the shock therapy program
"We have come here to tell you that we shall succeed in seeing the shock
therapy program we started through and that we shall observe our
commitments assumed in the field of the reform", said Romania's president,
Emil Constantinescu, in his speech held on Monday with Romania's government
at the World Trade Center in Bucharest in cooperation with the Economist
magazine. Mr Constantinescu told foreign investors that the present
Movernment will simplify the procedures of selling companies, but in the
meantime it will succeed in establishing legislative measures on the
repatriation of the invested capital of dividends and interests. RRI-RADOR,

[04] Raport on environment protection presented by Romania
The Environment Minister of the European Union countries meeting in
Bruxelles with their counterparts of the countries associated to the EU
have agreed on the reduction by 10% of the release of toxic gas until the
year 2.010. A Romanian delegation is also taking part at the meeting
presenting a report on the country's environment protection policy. RRI-

[05] Romanian Defence Minister met his French counterpart
Romania's bid for NATO membership and bilateral cooperation were the main
topics for discussion in Paris, on Monday, between Romanian Defence
Minister, Victor Babiuc and his French counterpart, Charles Millon. Mention
must be made that the Romanian official's visit in ParisMis a private one.
During his visit in Romania, on February 21st and 22nd, the French
president, Jacques Chirac, stated that France supports Romania's admission
in NATO in the first wave. RRI-RADOR, February 4
[06] Weather in Romania
Weather will be generally cloudy in most parts of the country with possible
rain in the south. Some light snowfalls are expected in the west. The
temperatures will range between -4 and +12 degrees Celsius. In Bucharest,
where this morning there 8 degrees above 0, possible rainshowers are
