[01] The ex-King Michael the 1st will pay a 6 day visit to Romania
The ex-King of Romania, Michael the 1st, will arrive in Romania on February
28th on a 6 day visit, the Royal House Press Office in Versoix, Switzerland,
reports. It is for the second time since 1947, when he was forced to step
down by Petru Groza's communist regime, that the former King of Romania
visits his motherland. Last week, the Romanian Governmnet repelled the
decree withdrawing the Romanian citizenship of King Michael the 1st and of

[02] Petre Roman - special guest at the meeting in Austria of Central and
East-European countries
The president of Romania's Senate, Petre Roman, is attending as special
guest the meeting of the Central and East-European countries in Baden,
Austria, on February 23rd and 24th. The summit rallies personalities from
Hungary, the Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania and
is held under the motto "The democratic settlement of minority issues". The
meeting is part of a broader programme for the ex- communist countries run
with the support of the United States Congress and Administration, of the
European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the European Union and

[03] Vim Ven Verzen, the president of the Christian-Democratic Union,
visits Romania
The president of the Christian-Democratic Union, Wim Ven Verzen, arrived on
Sunday on a visit to Romania at the invitation of the president of the
Christian and Democratic National Peasant Party, Ion Diaconescu. Mr Ven
Venzel will meet leading members of the party, the most powerful party in
the Government coalition and leaders of the Ethnic Hungarians Democratic

[04] Romanian boxer Mihai Leu is the new world champion in the WBO Welter
weight category
Romanian boxer Mihai Leu is the new world champion in the WBO Welter weight
category. In a match which took place Saturday night in Hamburg, Germany,
Leu beat at points Santiago Semenego from Panama. It is for the first time
that a Romanian boxer becomes world champion at such level. Mihai Leu is
the current intercontinental champion in the Welter weight category and has
not lost any of the 27 matches played so far as a professional boxer. RRI-

Weather will be warm with clear skies in most parts of the country.
Temperatures will range between -6 and +17 degrees Celsius. Some fog is
expected up in the mountains. In Bucharest, where this morning there were-4
degrees, weather will be fine and warm with a maximum high of 8 degrees
